Masana Energy Solutions HSS Customer Guide
SAFE STORAGE HANDLING AND DISPENSING PROCEDURES ACTION RATIONALE Always keep the surrounding area neat and tidy Good general housekeeping Keep the pump island area free of parked vehicles Big trucks need enough maneuvering space to position the fuel tank to be closer to the dispensing nozzles Ingress and egress to the pump island must be free of any obstruction Some types of trucks carry fuel tanks on both sides: left and right. These trucks must drive out of the pump island to face the opposite direction for filling the second fuel tank. Keep the litter bins always emptied Overflowing litter bins can be a potential fire hazard becausemost people have a tendency of using bins to dispose cigarette stubs and ashes. This can also be a good place to hide explosives or bomb devices for people intending to cause harm or damage to property. Provide paper towel or clean cloth for oil checks Paper towel works better than a cloth where there is a need for oil checks. A cloth soaked in diesel or oil is not safe when kept in a pocket for reuse, can cause skin disease. Paper gets disposed soon after use. Display "No Smoking" signs clearly next to the pump islands Pump attendants should only smoke in a designated area and ensure that truck drivers also follow the same rules. Keep all pump hoses neatly coiled on the side of the pump This will save staff from tripping and falling. It will also, save hoses from being damaged by passing trucks and smaller vehicles next to the pump islands. Broken hoses leaking on the pump island can cause environmental harm as follows: contaminate drinking water, contaminate the soil, kill all water species and natural birds drinking contaminated water. These kinds of leaks also erode business profits when left to carry on for longer periods. Broken hoses and leaking nozzles should be reported to Masana Business Manager as soon as noticed. Always keep pump panels clean and polished Pumps must be always kept neat and tidy. Ensure that Masana Business Manager is notified immediately about the following: Dented, damaged and unsightly panels that need repairs. Malfunctioning pumps. Ensure that all lights provide adequate lumens to the pump island Some operations work 24 hours and pump attendants need good lighting to carry out tasks of dispensing fuel properly. Keeping records of all the transactions need some handwritten documentation done where there is enough light for needed accuracy. HOUSEKEEPI NG AROUND THE PUMPS CHECKLIST
