Masana intercedes a Two-tier Healthcare System

Masana Petroleum Solutions (Masana) in collaboration with Unjani Clinics hoped to make an ever lasting impact in areas where proper health care facilities were needed in South Africa. The existing Unjani Clinics have already made a significant impact in communities by enhancing access to affordable quality primary healthcare. “We as Masana partnered with Unjani before, where we donated an ultra sound machine for a Clinic in Phalaborwa in 2019, so when the opportunity presented it’s self to assist again, we jumped on board” said Keikanetswe Dlepu, CSI Coordinator for Masana. News CSI MASANA INTERCEDES A TWO-TIER HEALTHCARE SYSTEM Masana Petroleum Solutions is committed to uplifting communities through focused Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives. Key areas include Education, Youth Development, Health, Environment, and Community Development. These efforts reflect Masana’s dedication to responsible corporate citizenship and positive social impact in South Africa. Unjani Clinics had developed the Unjani Health Pod concept and was looking for a partner to fund Health Pods (mobile trailers) in rural areas that did not commercially support a fixed Unjani Clinic infrastructure and Masana was an ideal partner. “Unjani Health Pods aim to provide approximately 200+ consultations per month. Basic services will be offered on the Unjani Health Pod with referral to the Unjani Clinic (Hub) for more complex matters. The addition of the Unjani Health Pods will reduce travel time and costs by “taking healthcare to the people”, said Lynda Toussaint, CEO of Unjani Clinics NPC. Masana added four Health Pods to extend the service reach of the following existing Unjani Clinics in Ga Maphopha, Musina, Empangeni and Barcelona. “We as Masana hope to make an ever lasting impact in the areas where there’s no proper health facilities in South Africa, where an elderly person won’t be forced to walk for hours to get state of the art health services from a proper health facility” concluded Keikanetswe Dlepu. It is easy for the Mobile clinics to reach the most rural areas where there’s no state of the art health facilities. It will cut the cost to travel to the city just to get a scan. By placing Unjani Clinics in the communities, this enables easy access for the mobile clinics to reach the most rural areas. Masana’s pods were officially launched in November 2021 and are located in Limpopo,KZN and Gauteng / Ekurhuleni.
